PRODIGAL

April 13, 2014 - We were blessed to have all met together for a few days of reminiscing and catching up. Loyd was in great spirits, and we all felt that it was a very special time. And now we know how very special it was. Loyd passed away peacefully on April 22, 2014 with his wife and children by his side.

Loydboldman3

The licensing agreement between Silver Orb Media and Retroactive Records has cleared the path for the reissue of Loyd Boldman's rare 1988 solo album 'Sleep Without Dreams'! This album was released on cassette only and was held somewhat close to the vest for years. Now, thanks to the 'Legends Remastered' series, a much larger audience can experience the complex simplicity and sobering wit of Loyd's lyrics and feel the broad emotional spectrum of his one-of-a-kind voice. Not sure if you remember your visits to the little town of Hamilton, MT. If so, I hope it's with the same fondness that I have. Loved hanging with you guys and appreciated your heart to serve our small town. blessings.rory

I bought a red cassette of "Electric Eye" in the early 80s. Continued to listen to your music growing up, and still do. Thank you so much for your art and ministry.

I'm probably one of the few that remember the real early days of Prodigal. My youth group at the time had a weekend lock-in and Prodigal was the live entertainment. The band might remember the event... it was called FriSats. This was my first taste of Christian music with a strong beat. I was hooked and forever a Prodigal fan. Had the chance to see the Electric Eye tour and spend time with Loyd after the show as he prayed with us teens. It's a part of my life that I will never forget. I've worn out my vinyl and was extremely excited when the 30th Anniversary box set was available. Prodigal's music is still relevant today as much as it was back in the 80's. Thanks for always being a blessing.

It doesn't seem like Mr. Boldman has been gone over 3 yrs. His voice was an amazing blessing to me in the 80s & still is. God bless you all. Prodigal is an amazing band. I missed out on the 30th Anniversary set. I hope I catch it if it's ever re-issued. Until then, I'll have to settle for the debut on mp3 & my original cassettes of Electric Eye & Just Like Real Life. Thank you for your unique sound.

I met Loyd, RIck & Pam back in 1975 when you were still Crossroads and Dan Littmann was your bass player. Your songs "Prodigal" and "Walk out on the Water" were SO awesome! Was hoping one of your albums would have "Walk out on the Water", but no such luck (I have all 3 in vinyl) . So very sorry to hear of Loyd's passing...had no idea he lived so close to me all these years. God bless you and keep you in His care. __________________________________ Great to hear from you Barb! Those were the days, right?! I hope to make "Prodigal" and "Walk Out On The Water" available in a collection of Boldman/Fields oldies sometime in the near future - Rick

During the recording of Electric Eye, Jon and you guys took some time off from recording to watch a movie together - the original "Back To the Future". I had the privilege of being in the audience. I will never forget Loyd's howling laughter when Marty strums the guitar in the opening minutes, blows up the mammoth speaker, and matter-of-factly says "Rock and Roll". To this day, I cannot see that scene without remembering Loyd's laughter. I can't wait to hear it again in Heaven. Thanks guys for the great sound, style and memories. Any demo tracks laying around?

Anyone know why Loyd's 1988 solo "Sleep Without Dreams" has never been issued digitally or on CD? Someone said Loyd requested that it not be. Wonder why?
